Jennifer Wilson

Board Member | Crosshouse Children's Fund

Jennifer Wilson is Executive Nurse Director for NHS Ayrshire and Arran where she feels privileged to provide Professional leadership to our nurses, midwifes and Allied Health Professionals as we work together to recover our services and deliver high quality care and support to our citizens throughout their life journey.

Jennifer qualified as a nurse in 1996 and had various roles across settings such as Orthopaedics, Intensive Care and Primary Care.  The majority of her nursing career was spent as a General Practice Nurse with extended roles in health protection, urgent care and supporting people with long term conditions.  During this time, Jennifer developed an interest in quality improvement and went on to lead on and support various National Improvement projects.  More recently, Jennifer moved to work within the Primary Care Division, Scottish Government in 2017 which coincided with a role in Healthcare Improvement Scotland as National Clinical Lead within the Primary Care Portfolio where she provided clinical and improvement leadership to support Primary Care reform.  Jennifer joined NHS Ayrshire and Arran in 2019, firstly as Assistant Director of Quality Improvement, and then in August 2020, in response to the COVID 19 pandemic, she moved into the role of Interim Deputy Nurse Director to provide expert professional clinical leadership to all NHS Ayrshire and Arran nursing staff and teams during a time of unprecedented challenge, before taking on her current role as Executive Nurse Director in April 2022.

Jennifer feels very passionately about the work of Crosshouse Children’s Fund in ensuring that the babies, children and young people of Ayrshire receive the extra special care that they deserve, while keeping donors and patients at the heart of everything we do.  In her role as Trustee, Jennifer will continue to be a strong advocate and supporter of the charity and is pleased to have the opportunity to contribute her skills and experience, both as a Board Member and as a Nursing Professional.
