Ayr Amateur Opera Company Hit Fundraising High Notes

12 January 2024 aaoc with rm

Crosshouse Children's Fund is thrilled to announce a partnership with the Ayr Amateur Opera Company.

The collaboration began with the recent success of a concert party organized by the opera group, which raised over £650 in aid of children receiving care at facilities the charity supports, including Rainbow House in Irvine and the children’s ward at University Hospital Crosshouse.

Performers also provided entertainment for free at the charity’s recent Christmas Fair in Kilmarnock, while they will also be collecting for Crosshouse Children’s Fund before several of their shows at the Gaiety Theatre, Ayr. The group is putting the finishing touches on their upcoming production of ‘The Sound of Music’, which begins a week-long run on February 26.

The Ayr Amateur Opera Company's commitment to making a positive impact in the community through the performing arts aligns with Crosshouse Children's Fund's mission to enhance the lives of young patients and their families, often through play in the hospital.

Funds raised through the partnership will play a crucial role in supporting essential medical equipment, enhancing the hospital environment, and providing comfort and joy to children during their hospital stays through play activities and special visits.

"We are truly grateful for the generosity and compassion demonstrated by the Ayr Amateur Opera Company," said Rebekah McGinn, Fundraising Manager at Crosshouse Children's Fund. "Their recent donation and further commitment to helping children in hospital in 2024 is an exciting way to start the year. All that is left to say is, ‘break a leg’!”

Sara Green, President of the Ayr Amateur Opera Company, added: “We are delighted to be supporting such a worthwhile local charity, one that is particularly close to all our hearts.

“Many of our own members’ babies and children have been treated and looked after at the neonatal and children's wards, and for that we say a huge thank you. We look forward to raising as much money as possible for Crosshouse Children’s Fund.”
